Science teaching and learning at Williamstown Primary School is driven by the philosophy that it provides students with empowering opportunities to actively engage with and to understand and make sense of their everyday world. We believe that students learn best when the curriculum considers students’ prior knowledge and experiences of their world, and where learning experiences encourage students to develop curiosity and to become scientifically literate citizens who will be able to make informed decisions about their lifestyle, their environment and the kind of society in which they wish to live.

We have created a dedicated Science Lab, fully equipped with a range of digital and physical resources, specifically to support the effective teaching and learning of Science across all year levels. Students in Years P-2 participate in Science lessons in Terms 2 and 4, and students in Years 3-6 undertake these studies in Terms 1 and 3.
