Returning to Onsite Learning – Term 2, 2020

Thank you for all your support during these past few weeks of remote and flexible learning. We are very pleased to provide you with the following information about our plan for the return to on-site learning for all Willy Kids.

The Chief Health Officer and the Victorian Government has advised that schools can begin a phased return to on-site schooling.  In the first stage, students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2, will return to school from this coming Tuesday 26 May. In the second stage of our return to on-site schooling, all other year levels (Years 3 – 6) will return to school from Tuesday 9 June, subject to further health advice.

Please note:

  • ONLY students and staff will be allowed to enter the school grounds.
  • Restricted access will apply to our school grounds.
  • Parents, carers, contractors and all other people will not be allowed on-site unless prior permission (in exceptional circumstances) is provided by the School Principal, Andrea Duxson.

Whilst it will feel a little strange to not have families walking around our playground in the mornings and afternoons, for everyone’s safety, we require parents to farewell their children at the gate. Parents will not be allowed on site and physical distancing must be observed around the school perimeter.

We urge all families to please read the policy below for details which will directly impact your child and the success of our school in keeping our community safe and well.

Return to Onsite Learning – COVID-19 Policy (May 2020)

We ask that you support the guidelines we have outlined and understand that whilst there may be some inconveniences or challenges for each of us, the school has made decisions in the best interests of all members of our community. We hope you can take confidence in knowing that we are doing all we can to keep every Willy Kid, happy, healthy and safe.

We understand that some families may be feeling anxious about this move back to classroom teaching and learning. This decision has been taken on the basis of the best health advice available to our state. We ask you to consider the positive messaging you provide your children as they return to school, highlighting the fun, the learning and the care we will be taking, rather than exposing any underlying concerns you may be feeling.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this time. We look forward to welcoming all our Willy Kids back to the classroom.
